LED treatment for Parkinson’s
As published in Science Mag, “Light therapy can help lift moods, heal wounds, and boost the immune system. Can it improve symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, too?” Ten years ago, John Mitrofanis, a neuro-anatomist at the University of Sydney, was told by a colleague that light in the NIR range (the region between 750 nm and 2,500 nm) protected retinal cells against toxins. This inspired Mitrofanis to try light as a treatment for Parkinson’s. Remarkably, through tremendous perseverance, Mitrofanis is doing just that.
Study using 14 early-stage Parkinson’s patients
Now, this isn’t the type of treatment that is meant to be off-the-shelf. This is an invasive procedure that is embedding fiber-optic cables directly into the brain. However, it provides a glimpse of just how far LED treatments will be going in the future. In this study, Metrofanis will follow 14 early-stage Parkinson’s patients for 4 years. Seven of the fourteen will be treated periodically with pulses of 670-nanometer light (comparable to the Red of the RejuvULite). This will be delivered to the brain via a thin laser diode cable.
What should also be considered, is the evidence is strong enough that LED therapy works, that scientists are willing to implant LED healing products into patient’s brains. There would not be any way to know how much power is required, or how often it should be provided. This is comparable to LED healing for any condition.
Healing is a recipe – combine the ingredients
Healing and health might be considered to be a recipe, in which ingredients of that recipe include sleep, nutrition, and circulation. With respect to many treatments and light therapy, in particular, there may not yet be a recipe that describes what will always work the best. However, simply combining the ingredients that promote healing together is better than nothing at all. Once these are carried out, light therapy may not be understood but is often shown to increase our rates of healing and allow our body to have a further advantage allowing it to overcome. Including an extra boost from the RejuvULite, a laser, or LED healing product is often shown to offer this further boost.
